Australian Zoo

Before we had even bought our tickets to fly to Australia I had researched things to do in Brisbane. One of the activities on my list was the Australian Zoo. This zoo was created by Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter's parents in 1979). Steve Irwin was known for being passionate about animals, especially crocs. He was known for saying, "Crikey!" I remember watching these crazy videos he would make about him wrestling crocodiles and other crazy animals. Sadly, Steve Irwin passed away, but his wife, daughter, and son now run the zoo. We explored the zoo for the day with Matt's colleague from Sweden, Ing-Mari. It was unlike any other zoo we had experienced. It is a private zoo so they do not have to follow all the rules that the other zoos do. There were so many animals that the kids could touch and observe up close. It was awesome! Our favorite thing at the zoo was feeding the kangaroos. They would eat right out of your hand and let you pet them. The kids said the kangaroos felt just like a stuffed animal. It was so cool!
snake face painting on their arms and hot cross buns (since it was the day before Easter)
 Touching a snake!
 Touching a KOALA!!
Posing by a large crocodile statue

 Touching a kangaroo!!!
 One of my favorite pictures!!
Up close with a Koala

The Crocoseum where we got to watch the Crocodile show that Steve Irwin was famous for. His wife and daughter, Bindi, with a few other people did the show. It was super cool!

Rylie's favorite, the Dingo. She finally bought herself a stuffed animal Dingo at the gift shop too.
The tigers were very cool!
At the end of the day we came back through the Kangaroo place and tried to use up all our kangaroo food. Rylie found this sweet mama Kangaroo and her little Joey. It was adorable!

I think this bird is called a cassawary. Derek's first comment about this bird
was, "Mom, this bird looks like he has part of his brain on his neck."
Here the Joey dove head first into his mama's pouch. You can see the feet sticking out.
