The Aunt's House

"GRACE AND BEAUTY" describes This Circa 1853 Italianate Style Residence, built by John Coates. With unspoiled detail and craftsmanship of a by gone Era. The home was owned by Thomas Lawson from 1897-1921 a Copper Magnate who drew much attention when he rode through town with the horses he bred. Seldom does a house appear on the market in its unspoiled glory. Spacious rooms with exquisite detail, inlayed wood floors, souring 12 foot ceilings and custom carved fireplace surrounds will impress the most discriminating connoisseur and antique lover. Sited on a large lot and within walking distance to Town Center, Schools, Train, Shops and Restaurant’s. Add your own touch and make this masterpiece the envy ounce again. This home has been loved by the current family since 1921.

Derek Building K'Nex

Derek was given a K'Nex set from a friend at church. The set said it was for ages 8+, but Derek was determined to build it. There were 100+ steps for this structure and it took him about a month to complete (as he had to do the steps after school and on the weekends). He was very determined and did the majority of it by himself. Way to go Derek!

February Activities

An early morning family picture before heading off to work and school. The kids looked so fancy!!
These two just crack me up!!

During a family bike ride/run on the canal Derek somehow managed to cut himself and the blood dripped down his leg and all over his bike. He thought it was so cool! LOVE his smile.
Saturday morning in Mommy and Daddy's bed watching Kratt Brothers together!
This is how I found Rylie one morning...she literally had cleared out an entire shelf of books, read them all, and fallen asleep with barely any room for herself. :) Silly girl!
Rylie has on rainbow leg warmers and D-Man has on standard tall socks (Under Armor, of course)!
Derek is SO excited for his new baseball uniform....he is on the Diamondbacks!!
Reading books with Daddy!
These two love to wrestle with each other and jump on each other and have SO much fun together! Love watching their friendship/relationship develop!

Happy Valentine's Day!
We LOVE to write encouraging words on a heart for each kid (1 per day).
Speaking truth into their lives is such an important thing!

This year I had the kids write words of truth about Matt. It was so cool to hear what they love about Matt and write down word for word what they said. Matt loved getting this. I can't wait to do it next year!
Valentine's Day breakfast
Playing Star Wars together! Notice the Nerf gun in Rylie's pants! :)

Matt and Mark Peterson brewing beer the all grain way!!! Lots of new contraptions being built!
Rylie had a BLAST at pony day at school. She got her picture taken on a pony and got to ride on one as well. Thankful for these experiences.
Rylie's DSCP class picture on pony day. LOVE her teachers and classmates.

Here is Derek's class photo with Mrs. Child and Mrs. Gandara on Pony Day.

Derek celebrated his 100th day of school!!!!
Rylie got some new tissue paper pom poms to decorate her room. (Thank you Lisa!!)
Rylie started taking ballet/tap/jazz. Tuesday mornings are so much fun!!

We went for a hike with Nikki, Ellie and Caitlin on President's Day!

Derek has learned to flip the bacon!

I am SO incredibly BLESSED to be able the Mama of these kiddos and to stay home with them everyday. I LOVE my job!! They bring me so much joy!! We have so much fun together! Thank you Jesus!

Gourmet breakfast that Matt made me one Sunday morning after coming home from a long 9 mile run!!! So thankful that Matt knows how to cook. He makes one AMAZING cappuccino too!!
First baseball practice of the 2016 season!! LOVE the view!
Helping out in Rylie's classroom on a special day when the Gingerbread man ran away!

Derek Lost the first of his front two teeth. It was tooth #3. It was a very exciting morning. He took the tooth to school in a bag to share with his friends at community circle time. Then at night he decided to put frozen peas in a bowl with his tooth so the tooth fairy could have a snack when she came for his tooth. He didn't put the tooth under his pillow. Seems like a good idea, and a healthy one too!
Rylie and I played all these games and did 6 puzzles for about an hour on one of our Tuesdays together. Despite her lack of a smile we had a great Rylie and Mommy day together!
Another Rylie and Mommy day...we do lots of tea parties and reading and puzzles and games.
Play date with Caden and Bella at the Aviano Park. I am so thankful for this family. We have been friends with them since Derek was 14 months old. She is the first friend I met here in AZ (besides Julie Kreiman) and we have been good friends ever since!! God totally put her in my life!
Face painting - Ninja turtle and Princess Elsa
Another afternoon play date at Aviano Park. We are so grateful to be able to live in Arizona where we can be outside so many months of the year. The weather is amazing and we totally take advantage of that with park time and hiking and biking and running...anything to be active outside. This is the first time Rylie climbed this structure!!!
Wanted to take a picture before I forget that Christina and I ran just about every Tuesday morning together with Rylie and Caden after dropping off Derek and Bella at SCA. This morning was particularly cold for AZ. After posting this on Instagram most people couldn't believe we were in AZ by the way were dressed. There won't be many more days running with kiddos in the stroller....now that Rylie has learned to ride her bike she doesn't want to be in the stroller, but I really like my time to catch up with Christina so I convince her to play on the iPad each week. But next year Rylie will be in school 4 days a week so Christina and I will run on our own without the strollers and kids. While running without a stroller will be freeing (and faster) I am also feeling sad because I have pushed a kid in a stroller for 6 years!!!! Our first purchase was a BOB jogging stroller because we wanted to be able to run and be an active family from the start. :) Happy sad feelings as a mom seems to be the way things go!!! Happy the kids are growing up and happy for amazing memories and happy for new stages as well as sad remembering back when the kids were much smaller.
