We left Milford Sound and drove 5 hours back to Queenstown, stopping in Te Anau. There is 1 road to drive to and from Milford Sound. It goes through this one lane rock tunnel that is crazy. In TeAnau we went to a small movie theater where we watched a cool movie about the Fiords and grew even more astounded with what we had just seen in Milford Sound. We found a small print shop and bought a sweet print to remind us of Milford Sound.
Waiting in line with other campervans to leave Milford Sound through the one lane tunnel. We read signs that said during the winter there is NO stopping due to possible avalanches so people have to somehow take turns passing in the tunnel. I would NOT like to get stuck in this old tunnel. But this is the only way to get to Milford Sound. Back in the day people would either hike OVER the crazy high rock cliffs or sail in through the Fiords off the Tasman Sea. Actually that is how Milford Sound was found, by explorers who were escaping the crazy storms on the Tasman Sea and ducked into Milford Sound and discovered how amazing the place was.
Here are some pictures as we were approaching Queenstown. There are tons of sheep in fields all over the South Island. I finally got a picture of a field of sheep!
I took a ton of pictures on this trip. Just wanted to get a silly picture of me in the side view mirror.

At Queenstown we settled into our holiday park and headed to dinner. We wanted to make sure to get Ferburger hamburgers for dinner since we had read so much about them and the line was so long the last time, but this time we were prepared. The burgers didn't disappoint. They had a delicious GF bun and yummy french fries.
After dinner we walked around town and snapped this cute family picture.
The kids LOVED the holiday park we picked.
There were 2 trampolines and it was at the base of the gondola.
