Our first few days in Australia

It took us about 4 days to adjust to the time difference and get over our jet lag. It was real strange to be a whole 15 hours ahead of everyone back home in the States. The first couple days we hung out and unpacked and got settled in our house.
Here is the kid's bedroom. Perfect set up for them!

After swimming in the ocean, we took a walk to the St. Kilda Pier. At the end of the pier is a cute historic coffee shop and restaurant. The kids got a treat and we walked out to cove where the penguins come ashore at sunset.
Using my selfie stick for the first time to take a picture of the Melbourne skyline from St. Kilda pier.

The kids are loving the weather. Here is our "backyard." Its just perfect for us.

Since we don't have a car here we walk everywhere. We are staying in a great location and are within walking distance to 3 grocery stores, the library, the beach and a couple parks. We are all getting used to doing so much walking and making sure to look right first before crossing since the cars all drive on the opposite side of the road.

The kids are great helpers at the grocery store!

First time taking the tram into Melbourne. We got MyKi (Mikey) cards to ride public transportation. It is about a 20 minute tram ride into Melbourne and there are several stops right at the end of our street.

The city reminds us a lot of San Francisco. It is very diverse and there are lots of restaurants from all different nationalities.

When we first arrived the Christmas decorations were still up!

We went to see the new Star Wars movie, "The Last Jedi." It was neat to say we saw it in Australia.
We walked to the local library and got library cards so we could check out books.
I am excited to read the classic Australian Children's literature.
The kids found chopsticks in the drawers at the house and are enjoying using them to eat.

I want the kids to remember this trip so I am having them journal their experiences. Rylie got her journal from one of her besties at school, Brecken, and had a great time decorating it.
