March 2019

SCA field day was fun to watch and cheer on the kids as they participated in their 3 events!

Derek made a dinosaur pillow in 2nd grade. He cut the fabric, stuffed it,
hand sewed the eyes on and the final small hole. So proud of him.

Rylie is proudly showing Daddy her outstanding report card for third quarter!
While my mom was in town, Matt and I went to hear Rob Bell speak.
It was a great night. Love being challenged by him! He spoke on finding Joy!
 Silly boy!
Grammy came to visit for the kids' spring break. It was fun to visit with her.
We went to the Botanical Gardens!

Love that the kids are reading in the Costco cart, although where are my groceries going to go?!

Checking out a new park - Mesa Riverview Park!

Play date with Bella and Caden on a half day of school....after playing at their house for several hours we all headed to the library to read and check out books together. Of course, my idea!!! ;)

Derek busted his toe at church playing football barefoot with his buddies. It ended up looking pretty nasty purple and swollen. He thought it was pretty cool.

The Friesens were in town for a conference and stopped by to spend some time with us. Its always fun to catch up with them and listen to their words of wisdom!!
Matt and I went to the SCA Gala. It was super fun to get dressed up and go to the Princess together. We had a great group of friends at our table and had a super fun evening!

Rylie and I before the Gala. She loved watching me get dressed up and put on my makeup! So cute!
It is baseball season now and it is so fun watching this guy play! He just LOVES the game of baseball. He plays just about every position. The coaches have him pitching and catching as well. It is such a great experience for him. Love his smile. Way to go D!!

Rylie is writing her thank you notes for her birthday party! She looks so sporty in her new t-shirt, sunglasses and headband. Plus she is using a new pen and new cards. :)
Derek now knows how to make coffee for us. He is very good at using the machine.
The kids are practicing for the long jump at school for the SCA Olympics. They had so much fun "coaching" each other, counting down, and jumping. Can't wait to watch the Olympics.
In Mrs. Evan's 2nd grade class Derek is sewing a dinosaur pillow. He is tracing out the dinosaur pattern on the fabric and then cutting it out. Next he will stuff it and sew up a small hole. It is the final project of their dinosaur unit.

Rylie loved being Star Student in 1st grade. Here is her poster that she brought in.
I love the pictures she chose.
The mountains are absolutely gorgeous this time of year, especially with all the rain we've had. The wild flowers are just amazing. We have been doing long hikes as we train for the 17 mile Grand Canyon hike. I am discovering that there are just SO many hiking trails in AZ. I LOVE living here.

Rylie turned 7!!! We celebrated her birthday as a family and then she had an American Girl Doll birthday party with 22 friends. She had a blast and loved being celebrated!

These kids are so fun to watch play together. They are such good friends.
I LOVE being able to volunteer in Rylie's classroom. I love to be a part of her learning. I helped her teacher design literacy centers this year and it has been so fun.
I am so blessed to be able to go on field trips with Derek. We went to the Natural History Museum.

 panning for gold!

Rylie's class did chapel on the fruit of the spirit. She was one of the narrators and did a fabulous job reading her lines. She was so confident and kept saying how much fun she had. The kids sang the cutest song about the fruit of the spirit after their skits.

March 3rd and these crazy kids jumped in the pool!!!
The water was freezing and they weren't in for very long, but they went swimming.
Derek has been part of the IP program at the Ice Den now for about 3 months. He is improving on his hockey skills every week. When I think back to where he was last June when we had returned from Australia and he had started the pre-hockey 2 classes - I am completely amazed at how well he is doing!!! We are so proud of his determination and perseverance in this sport!

On most Saturdays Derek has hockey practice and baseball games.
He plays sports for about 3 hours and LOVES every minute of it.

Derek is in 8U kid-pitch this year. He choose his shirt number.
Rylie LOVES soccer. She literally runs with a smile on her face at all times. She has really gotten the hang of soccer and has scored a goal in every game so far this season.
She can't wait for her Saturday games! It is so fun to watch her play.
Her team is made up of girls all from SCA.
The Black Bears and Coach Chad!
This girl and her fashion! That is a skirt she has turned into a top!! :)
