Goldwater Lake, Prescott, AZ

One Sunday afternoon we decided to take a family trip up north to see the beautiful colored fall leaves. It was so fun to drive in AZ and see some fall foliage (it isn't like New England fall colors, but it wasn't too bad). The kids LOVED hiking through the woods, throwing rocks in the lake, exploring and swinging. The weather was definitely cool fall weather and the colors were very pretty. It was a great family adventure.

Super Rylie Girl!

Rylie LOVES to imagine and make up games and her play. She is always coming up with something fun thing to play with her. This week she has been really into wearing her Super Girl costume. :) She loves to pretend play and is so creative. I love to watch her and listen to her as she comes up with such creative ideas.

1st Field Trip for Derek

Derek's JK class took a field trip to the AZ Puppet Theater to see the Little Red Hen. I was so thankful to my friend Lori (and daughter Charlie) for taking Rylie to the zoo so that I could go on the field trip with Derek. It was so much fun to watch him experience riding on a BIG YELLOW school bus for the very first time. He kept saying, "The bus was like a jet. It went SO fast!" After watching the Little Red Hen, the class went to the Police Park to have lunch and play. I loved watching Derek play with his friends. It is such a great way to get a glimpse into who he is.

SO FAR BEHIND....

I am feeling so far behind with my blog that I am feeling overwhelmed to even start blogging again, but I have to start at some point. So here goes....

Here is sleeping beauty - sweet Rylie girl - 3.5 years old
Early dismissal at SCA - took Derek to lunch at In-N-Out Burger and then spent 1.5 hours playing baseball and climbing at the Police Park. I LOVE spending time with this boy. I LOVE watching him slide in the dirt on the baseball field, run after the baseball, rip a whole in his pants, jump in puddles, be adventurous and get his sneakers so dirty because he is ALL BOY.
Rylie LOVES to help her Daddy with any project. Tonight, she helped Matt transfer his beer.

Halloween 2015

For the 3rd year in a row we had the Uithoven family over for dinner and then trick-or-treating. This year the Shinar family joined us along with our new neighbors. Our neighborhood is so great for trick-or-treating. People sit in chairs on their driveways passing out candy. It is very kid friendly. After going up and down our street, we make our way back to our house. The kids go through their candy picking their favorite 20 pieces and then pass out the rest of their candy. I think that the kids have more fun passing out candy than getting candy.
Matt spent 2 hours carving this pumpkin of Darth Vader to go along with our costumes and theme. It took a lot of patience, but he did an amazing job.

Grace, Rylie, Derek and Charlie passing out the candy.
Spotted this authentic storm trooper in our neighborhood.....

The 2 pumpkins we carved this year. Sadly, pumpkins here in AZ do not last long at all so all of Matt's hard work was only enjoyed for 2 days and then the pumpkin started to rot......

Trunk-or-Treat 2015

This year our family went with a Star Wars theme. It was the first time that Matt and I had dressed up with the kids and it was super fun. We got lots of compliments on our costumes! We played Star Wars music the whole night too, which was fun to listen to as we passed out candy. After passing the candy out we said, "May the force be with you."
