August Activities

Derek (6 years old) and Rylie (4.5 years old)

We drove to Prescott for a family adventure day. Driving to Prescott was so fun with the new minivan. The kids watched a movie while Matt and I had a great "date." We explored a new hike called Granite Gardens. The hike included playing dot-to-dot scrambling along granite rock. There were white dots along the rocks and the kids loved discovering the path. Along the way Rylie fell and split her knee open. There was a lot of blood, but she was a trooper. At the end of the hike we had to scramble through a bunch of rocks while wading through a foot of water. It was so neat.

I took Derek to the Science Museum while Rylie went to work with Daddy.
Derek loved the bed of nails....

Rylie going to work with Daddy!!

Summer pictures!!!

Making cookies with Rylie!
Matt and I took Rylie to meet her teachers and see her classroom.
She is very excited for her school year. She had a scavenger hunt to complete.

There was lots of swimming in August!

I LOVE long eyelashes after the pool.

I got to take Derek to see his classroom the day before school started.
He completed a scavenger hunt to explore the classroom.
Doing an "experiment" with baking soda and colored vinegar. SO much fun!

Surprise! Playing with a cardboard box is so much fun!!!
Enjoying the cooler morning weather....biking and sidewalk chalk.

Family game of hide and seek in the Noodle Forest at the Children's Museum.

Derek is so sweet and gentle and likes to brush Rylie's hair.

Happy 13th anniversary Matt!!
Matt brought me home 2 dozen roses. We enjoyed dinner and Hopdoddy and went to see the new Bourne movie. It was a great night out. Our babysitter was even free.
Swimming with Bella and Caden...enjoying their waterslide, jumping rock and grotto.
Thankful for such good friends.

Play date with Milania and Zane.
Funny how girls and boys play so differently. :)

Daddy is SO strong!

Love to go into the kid's rooms and watch them while they are sleeping.
So beautiful...makes all the challenging parts of the day go away.

Best of friends playing together. I LOVE the summer because they get to play together all the time.

Rylie's First Day of Pre-K

Rylie couldn't wait to start preschool! This is her second year at DSCP and she is going 4 days a week. She loves to be at school and gets mad if I pick her up early. This will be our last year at DSCP and we have been with some families at this school for 4 years. We are very excited for Rylie and the things she is going to learn this year and how she is going to grow. We are excited to see how God is going to use her.

We took her to Dunkin Donuts for a special breakfast.
Rylie with some of her classmates.

Derek's 1st day of Kindergarten

Derek was so ready and excited for Kindergarten, after doing Jr. Kindergarten last year he was very prepared for increased workload. We are so proud of him and excited to see how he will grow this year and the plans God has for him.

Outside his classroom, candy land theme.

Singing Praises to Jesus in the car

I am so thankful that I get to drive the kids to school each day. We have a great routine where I pray for them and their day as we drive to school. Then we put on praise music and sing together. This morning after praying, Chris Tomlin's song "We Fall Down" came on and the kids and I just belted it out at the top of our lungs. I was singing and just wanting to soak up that moment with the kids. How awesome to be praising our God together!! Car rides are some of the best the conversations we have and are incomparable! Thankful I get to serve my family by staying home and raising the kids and taking care of Matt and the household. God has blessed our family so much!
